Flots was born from a shared desire to transform the humble cushion into a sculptural objet d'art—something to be cherished for years to come while treading lightly on the environment.
Inspired by the founders’ adopted home of Margate, Flots draws on the natural beauty of rippling sand formations, peculiar sea creatures washed ashore, rolling tides, and the pastel-hued expanse of the Thanet skies.
The idea first took shape during lockdown when Sophie, an interior designer with a passion for playful, sculptural interiors, dreamt of reimagining cushions and their impact on a space. After years of frustration in finding unique and artful designs, Sophie envisioned something entirely new.
When Sophie met Josie, a talented textile designer and intricate weaver, who was exploring many of the same ideas in her work the pair instantly bonded over their shared vision. Combining their creative expertise and Margate's coastal charm, Flots came to life as a collaboration to elevate everyday home decor into something truly extraordinary.
